Through a partnership with Turtle Creek Valley Arts and Westinghouse Arts Academy, we are able to provided quality summer programming for Grades 6-12. All students who participate in summer programming will receive a free lunch as well! See below for our 2023 summer offerings.

Westinghouse Summer Musical Theatre- High School
WSMT is a multi-week intensive that focuses on the production process of producing a high quality, Summer Stock style musical. Throughout the process, students will also work with industry professionals through the form of masterclasses gaining new insight into themselves as a performer while also providing personalized feedback. A free lunch is provided.

GRADES 9-12
Westinghouse Summer Musical Theatre Intensive- Middle School
The Middle School, Musical Theatre Intensive is a three-week musical theater intensive for grades 6-8. Students will work through the entire production process from auditions to opening night. Students will rehearse a full-scale musical while also contributing to the costume, prop and set design.

CREATIVE ARTS
All class offerings below are available for both Grades 6-8 and 9-12

CERAMICS and PRINTING
In this class students will get the full ceramics and printmaking studio experience. Students will learn to throw on a wheel as well as use hand building techniques. Students will also get to create a printmaking project while ceramic projects are being fired! This class will be hands-on and allow students to create through clay and printmaking techniques.

2D DESIGN
In this class students will explore drawing and painting media in concepts of 2D design. Students will learn realistic drawing techniques from observation and painting in multiple paint mediums. This class will be an intensive study of two dimensional mediums where students can spend time in the studio learning and creating their own original artwork.

FILMMAKING
Lights, camera, ACTION! Whether you are a filmmaker, special effects guru, a makeup artist, or an actor, you will be working on a short film titled “The Ghost of Westinghouse.” In this class students are going to be involved in a short film about a young group of future filmmakers who encounter a menacing and creepy ghost while working on a short film.
Please join us for this 3 week filmmaking
adventure. Students will learn filmmaking basics, movie poster design, special effects makeup, critical thinking and the value of teamwork.
SHAKESPEARE IN THE SUMMER
Spend a week with William Shakespeare this summer! Shakespeare in the Summer provides students with the opportunity to learn and perform shorter versions of the Bard’s enduring classics. Students will take acting classes focusing on pantomime, improvisation, storytelling, and auditioning. In tandem with acting classes, students will rehearse an abridged version of one of William Shakespeare’s plays. Who knows you could be the next Lady Macbeth or Sir Toby!
